My
Story

Rhona is a costume maker currently working at Scottish Ballet, which she joined in 2018 after earning a First-Class BA (Hons) in Costume Design and Construction from Queen Margaret University.

As Senior Wardrobe Technician, and later Deputy Head of Touring Wardrobe, Rhona has toured extensively—both across Scotland and internationally—managing quick changes backstage, running wardrobe departments, and coordinating full wardrobe logistics for productions from Inverness to Wellington, New Zealand.

Her work includes altering costumes to fit different dancers, creating new pieces from scratch, and supporting major productions both on stage and on screen. Notably, she worked on Scottish Ballet’s feature-length films The Secret Theatre(2020) and These Violent Delights (2024), gaining valuable experience in film costume production. While she enjoys both theatre and film, her passion lies in live theatre, where she thrives in the energy of backstage work.

Rhona’s skills in costume construction were honed during her time at university, where she designed and built dancewear including a Romantic and Classical tutu inspired by day and night, and created costumes for productions such as Red Riding Hood and The Night Circus. She also contributed to the Edinburgh International Festival in 2016 and 2017, working on The Glass Menagerie, The Toad Knew, and The Divide.

In addition to her theatre work, Rhona has designed and constructed a bespoke wedding dress and creates custom hanging banners, showcasing her versatility and creative range.
