The Night Circus
For my final project at Queen Margaret University, I designed and constructed a breathtaking costume for Celia Bowen, a key character from Erin Morgenstern’s 2011 novel The Night Circus.
Celia is a powerful magician within the enchanted world of the circus, and this costume represents an exquisite transformation—a former performance piece reimagined as an elegant evening gown. Set in London, 1896, the gown is inspired by the era’s fashion, while staying true to the whimsical and fantastical spirit of the novel.
I crafted a stunning corset and combination set, intricately adorned with delicate lace and silver flossing. The piece is completed with a voluminous ruffled underskirt and a flowing silver gown that trails gracefully, embodying both the grace and the magic of Celia’s character.
